The Wonder of Creating 3D Printing Organs

There might have been a time when 3D printing organs might have seemed like something that jumps out of a science fiction book. Today it is very much a possibility, thanks to the 3D printing technology advancement that has taken place. There are bioartificial organs that are replacement body parts. These are created with the help of biological material. Traditional artificial organs have been mechanical in their built and function. Some are built from synthetic compounds such as alloys or metals and plastic. In contrast, the bioartificial organs created as 3D printing organs, are made out of living cells. These are grown in the laboratory. There are several benefits of such types of replacement organs as they reduce the dependency on human donors.

3D printing organs have helped reduce a crisis for body parts that has been tragic for many people. Many have waited for organ transplant and even died in the process of not finding a suitable donor. Organs like kidney, lungs and liver are in high demand among patients who have severe illnesses with such major organs impaired for good. There are many difficulties faced when waiting for organ transplant. The success rate of an organ transplant procedure is very low as there are many biological factors that come into play when an organ of one individual is fitted in another body. The immune system of the recipient might reject the transplant. For such reasons, 3D printing organs are coming in vogue.

Artificial organs such as 3D printing organs are designed to meet this crisis. Today artificial organs are being produced by non biological materials with the help of 3D printing technology. Man made kidneys have been produced since the twentieth century. The mechanical artificial body part such as 3D printing organs is also subject to rejection by the immune systems. Man made organs need to be introduced by special procedures as they may be treated as unnatural and rejected b the body. Bioartificial organs are one alternative to overcome such limitations. Here different cells are layered on top of each other to create bioartificial organs. For instance, a layer of muscle cells may be one form of 3D printing organs that is placed to form a firm exterior. The layers of living cells need to be positioned by laboratory devices. There are several special 3D printing software to make such projects executable. One such software is 3D studio Max. 3D modeling software like 3D studio Max helps to develop 3D models. A wireframe model is created which represents a three dimensional object. The object may be alive as in case of making bioartificial organs or they could be inanimate and made on different materials. Software like 3D studio Max make it possible for 3D printers to work and execute such projects.
